How to Choose a Party Venue for Bouncy Castle Hire
Choosing a party venue for bouncy castle hire is not simply a matter of finding the biggest hall nearby. The room needs to suit the inflatable, provide enough ceiling clearance, allow suitable access and have a practical layout for children, adults, food and any additional party equipment.
If you choose the venue first and check the important measurements before booking the bouncy castle, the rest of the planning becomes much easier.
This guide explains what to look for when comparing halls and function rooms, what questions to ask the venue and how different types of bouncy castles can suit different indoor spaces.
Start with the Usable Floor Space
A venue may advertise a generous room capacity, but that does not necessarily tell you how much clear floor space is available for an inflatable.
When viewing or measuring a hall, look at the area that can actually be used once you take account of:
- stages;
- fixed seating;
- radiators;
- serving counters;
- storage areas;
- doors and fire exits;
- tables and chairs;
- other party equipment.
A bouncy castle also needs additional clearance beyond the dimensions printed in the product name. Our guide to how much space a bouncy castle needs explains why a 12ft x 12ft inflatable requires more than a 12ft x 12ft patch of empty floor.
Do Not Forget About Ceiling Height
Indoor bouncy castle hire is three-dimensional. The width and length of the room may be suitable while the ceiling is too low for the inflatable you want.
Measure the lowest clear point above the proposed setup area. Pay particular attention to:
- ceiling beams;
- hanging lights;
- speakers;
- projectors;
- basketball hoops;
- other suspended fixtures.
Do not rely on the room's headline ceiling height if something projects below it.
What height does a hall need for a bouncy castle? goes into this in more detail.
What Type of Bouncy Castle Could Suit the Venue?
Once you know the clear floor measurements and ceiling height, you can start comparing inflatables. The examples below show how different products in our range vary in size and format.
The sizes above are the listed inflatable dimensions, not the total installation space required. Always check the full product requirements before booking.
When Is a Low-Height Bouncy Castle Useful?
Some community halls have plenty of room on the floor but comparatively low ceilings. In these venues, choosing from our Low Height Bouncy Castles may give you more options.
Does the Venue Allow Bouncy Castles?
Never assume that an indoor venue permits inflatables simply because other children's parties take place there.
Ask explicitly whether bouncy castles are allowed and whether the venue has any restrictions on:
- inflatable dimensions;
- setup position;
- equipment access;
- use of electrical equipment;
- setup and collection times.
It is much easier to confirm these points before paying a venue deposit than to find out later that the chosen room cannot accommodate the equipment.
What to ask a venue before booking a bouncy castle party provides a more detailed checklist.
How Important Is Access to the Hall?
Very. A large room is not useful if the inflatable cannot be transported into it.
We normally need clear access at least 2.6ft wide, although some larger inflatables can require up to 3ft. Look at the complete route from the entrance to the room, not just the main front door.
Check for:
- narrow external doors;
- tight internal doorways;
- small corridors;
- steps;
- sharp turns;
- restricted entrances.
If there is anything unusual about the access, tell us before you book.
Does the Venue Need a Power Socket?
Yes. Bouncy castles use a blower that needs to remain connected to a standard mains power supply while the inflatable is operating.
We carry 25m extension leads as standard and can provide up to 50m where required if we know in advance.
When looking around a hall, make a note of the socket positions as well as the floor dimensions. The best-looking part of the room is not always the most practical setup location.
How Much Room Should You Leave for the Rest of the Party?
A venue should not be judged only by whether the bouncy castle can physically fit.
Children and adults still need room for:
- tables and seating;
- party food;
- entrances and exits;
- coats and bags;
- birthday cakes and presents;
- other activities.
A slightly smaller inflatable with a sensible room layout may work better than choosing the largest option that can technically be squeezed into the hall.
What If You Want Soft Play as Well?
If toddlers are attending, you may want to create a second activity area using Soft Play.

Allow Room for Younger Children
The Multicoloured Soft play and Ball pit is available for £90 and is designed for indoor use.
If your party includes babies or toddlers as well as older children, a larger hall can allow you to keep the soft play area separate from the bouncy castle.

Soft play or bouncy castle: which is better for my child's party? is useful if you are still deciding how to use the venue.
What If You Want Didi Cars Too?
Didi Cars need a suitable smooth, hard indoor floor and their own clear riding area.
The 4 x Didi cars can be added to suitable indoor parties, while the 6 x Didi Cars & Race Track needs more room.
If Didi Cars are part of your plans, look for a venue with enough open floor space to keep the riding area separate from the inflatable and toddler zone.
Would a Party Package Need a Bigger Hall?
Usually, yes. A Party Package contains more than one activity, so the complete setup needs considerably more usable floor space than a single bouncy castle.
What Venue Facilities Are Useful for a Children's Party?
Once the inflatable requirements are covered, practical facilities can make the party much easier to run.
Useful features can include:
- toilets close to the function room;
- tables and chairs included with the booking;
- a kitchen or food preparation area;
- easy access for unloading;
- parking for parents;
- enough booking time for setup and collection.
These are not inflatable requirements, but they can make a big difference to how smoothly the event runs.
How Much Setup Time Should the Venue Allow?
Do not book the hall only for the exact duration of the children's party.
The equipment needs to be delivered and installed before guests arrive, and we also need access afterwards to collect it. Ask the venue what time you can enter the room and when everything must be removed.
If the venue has another booking immediately before or after yours, make sure the access window is realistic before confirming it.
Is an Indoor Venue Better Than a Garden?
That depends on the time of year and the space you have available.
A suitable garden can work well during the outdoor season, while a hall removes much of the uncertainty associated with rain and wet ground. Indoor hire is especially useful for birthdays during the colder months.
Can you put a bouncy castle indoors? explains the indoor requirements, while can you hire a bouncy castle in the rain? is useful if weather is influencing your decision.
Where Can You Look for Party Venues?
We have put together local venue information to help families start their search. Depending on where your party is taking place, you can look at options in Yate, Bath, Portishead, Chippenham, Keynsham and Thornbury.
For Bristol parties, we have separate venue pages for West Bristol, North Bristol, South Bristol and East Bristol.
These guides can help with your shortlist, but always confirm current availability, room dimensions, access and inflatable policies directly with the venue.
Party Venue Checklist Before You Book
Check These Nine Things
- Permission: Does the venue allow bouncy castles?
- Floor space: What are the clear usable dimensions?
- Ceiling: What is the lowest available height?
- Obstructions: Are there beams, lights, stages or fixed furniture?
- Access: Can the equipment be transported into the room?
- Power: Is a mains socket available within a practical distance?
- Layout: Is there still room for guests, tables and other activities?
- Setup time: When can the hire company enter?
- Collection: When does the venue need to be cleared?
Choose the Venue First, Then the Bouncy Castle
For most indoor parties, this is the easiest order to follow. Find a venue you like, collect the usable floor dimensions and ceiling height, check access and power, then choose equipment that comfortably works within those limits.
If you have already booked a room, our hall measuring guide can help you record the important dimensions before choosing from our Bouncy Castles.
If you are hiring for the first time, our complete first-time bouncy castle hire guide covers the wider booking process as well.
