What Happens If the Weather Is Bad on the Day of My Bouncy Castle Hire?
Bad weather is one of the main concerns with outdoor bouncy castle hire, especially when rain or strong winds are forecast close to the day of the party.
At Jump N Joy Castles, safety comes first. If weather conditions are unsafe, including heavy rain or high winds, the inflatable must not be used outdoors and the booking may need to be cancelled.
This guide explains what happens, what you should do if the forecast looks poor and what indoor alternatives may be available.
What Happens If Heavy Rain Is Forecast?
If the weather is unsafe for outdoor inflatable use, the booking may need to be cancelled.
Heavy rain can affect both the inflatable and the condition of the setup area, particularly if the grass becomes too wet or unsuitable.
Do not move the inflatable onto a patio, driveway, concrete or another hard outdoor surface as an alternative. Our outdoor setups require suitable natural grass.
If your main concern is rain, can you hire a bouncy castle in the rain? looks at wet-weather bookings in more detail.
What Happens If It Is Too Windy?
High winds can make outdoor inflatable use unsafe. If conditions are not suitable, the inflatable must not be used.
Weather decisions are based on safety rather than simply whether the day still feels pleasant enough for a party.
If you are worried about the forecast before your booking, contact us so the situation can be discussed rather than making changes to the setup yourself.
What Happens to My Deposit If You Cancel Because of Unsafe Weather?
If Jump N Joy Castles needs to cancel because of unsafe weather conditions, the £20 booking deposit is refundable.
This is different from a customer cancellation, so it is worth checking the relevant booking terms if you are considering cancelling the event yourself before a final weather decision has been made.
Can the Bouncy Castle Be Moved Indoors Instead?
Potentially, but only if you have access to a suitable indoor venue and the inflatable fits safely inside it.
You need to check:
- usable floor space;
- clear ceiling height;
- access to the room;
- mains power;
- whether the venue permits inflatable equipment.
Can you put a bouncy castle indoors? explains the main requirements, while our hall measuring guide shows you what dimensions to collect.
Which Indoor Bouncy Castles Could Be Worth Considering?
If you are moving from an outdoor plan to an indoor venue, do not assume the same inflatable will automatically fit. A smaller or lower-height design may be more suitable.
What If the Hall Has a Low Ceiling?
If the venue has plenty of floor space but limited height, one of our Low Height Bouncy Castles may be more suitable.
The Blue Party Theme Bouncy Castle (10ft x 12ft) is the main lower-height option in our current range.
Our low-height bouncy castle guide explains when this type of inflatable may help.
Can Soft Play Be Used as a Wet-Weather Alternative?
Yes, especially for babies and toddlers. Our soft play is for indoor use, so it can work very well for a hall-based party when outdoor inflatable hire is not practical.

Indoor Soft Play Option
The Multicoloured Soft play and Ball pit is available for £90.
It can provide a dedicated indoor activity for younger children when poor weather makes a garden party unsuitable.

Soft play or bouncy castle: which is better for my child's party? can help if you are deciding between the two.
Can Didi Cars Be Used Indoors If the Weather Turns Bad?
Yes, provided the venue has a suitable smooth, hard indoor floor and enough clear room.
The 4 x Didi cars can add a second indoor activity for £30, while the 6 x Didi Cars & Race Track is a larger option at £90.
Didi Cars should have their own clear area rather than sharing the bouncy castle entrance or toddler zone.
Could a Party Package Help with an Indoor Backup Plan?
If you have a suitable hall and several age groups attending, a Party Package can provide more than one activity in the same booking.
Check the individual package page for full contents and setup requirements.
Can I Move an Outdoor Booking Onto Artificial Grass?
No. Artificial grass is not used for our outdoor inflatable setups.
If the natural grass becomes unsuitable because of poor conditions, moving the inflatable onto artificial turf does not provide an alternative setup surface.
Can bouncy castles go on artificial grass? explains this in more detail.
Can I Move the Bouncy Castle Onto Concrete or Tarmac?
No. We do not set up outdoor bouncy castles on concrete, tarmac or other hard outdoor surfaces.
If the original grass setup is no longer suitable, an appropriate indoor venue is the main alternative to consider.
Should I Book an Indoor Venue from the Start?
If the party is taking place during a time of year when poor weather is more likely, an indoor venue can make planning much simpler.
It also gives you more options for combining bouncy castles with soft play, Didi Cars and seating.
Our complete indoor bouncy castle hire guide covers the practical side of choosing an indoor setup.
What About Autumn and Winter Bookings?
Jump N Joy Castles does not provide outdoor inflatable hire from October to March.
During those months, suitable indoor venues are the option for bouncy castles and other indoor party equipment.
Bouncy castle hire in autumn and winter: what are the options? explains the seasonal alternatives.
What Should I Do If the Forecast Starts Looking Bad?
Poor Weather Checklist
- Keep checking the forecast as the event approaches.
- Contact us if you are concerned about outdoor conditions.
- Do not move the planned setup onto another surface yourself.
- If you have an indoor alternative, measure the hall properly.
- Check that the venue permits inflatables.
- Provide the clear floor and ceiling measurements if changing venue.
How Do I Know Whether an Indoor Backup Venue Will Work?
Before changing the booking location, collect the usable floor length and width, the lowest ceiling height and details of the access route.
You should also confirm the location of a standard mains power socket.
Our guide to what to ask a venue before booking a bouncy castle party gives you a useful list of questions.
Where Can I Find Local Indoor Venues?
If you need to look for a hall, our local venue information covers Yate, Bath, Chippenham, Keynsham, Portishead and Thornbury.
For Bristol, there are separate venue pages for North Bristol, West Bristol, East Bristol and South Bristol.
Always confirm current availability, room measurements and inflatable rules directly with the venue.
